Rock the Dock: Bay Fluke Tournament – Official Rules

Date: Saturday, June 21, 2025
Time: Lines in at 7:00 AM – Lines out at 4:00 PM

WEIGH-INS AND LINES OUT HAVE BEEN PUSHED BACK FROM 3pm to 4pm. Boats needing to weigh in early 3-4pm may still due so if they contact Matt before 12pm day of tournament. Contact info is in your captains packet email (goes out at 6pm 6/20)


Weigh-In: 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Sun Harbor Seafood and Grill (Land or Boat Access)
Location: Barnegat Bay, NJ (See boundaries below)
Hosted By: NJ Fishing Club

Entry Fees

  • Boat Division (Up to 4 Anglers per Boat, JR Anglers do not count towards total): $100

    • $75 to prize pool / $25 to registration & admin fees

  • Land-Based or Kayak (Single Angler Only): $60

    • $45 to prize pool / $15 to registration & admin fees

  • Single Entry Calcutta: $150 (Optional)

    • 90% to prize pool / 10% retained by NJ Fishing Club

    • Includes eligibility for both Calcutta prizes

Payout Structure

Anglers may only win one prize in the main tournament. However, they may win both Calcutta prizes if entered.

Main Tournament (Heaviest Fluke)

  • 1st Place: 50% of prize pool

  • 2nd Place: 30% of prize pool

  • 3rd Place: 20% of prize pool

Calcutta (Single Entry)

  • Heaviest Fluke (1 fish): 50% of Calcutta pool

  • Heaviest Stringer (Combined Weight of 3 Fluke): 50% of Calcutta pool

Jr. Anglers Photo Division (Ages 15 & Under)

  • Open to anglers aged 15 and under

  • Must hook and reel in fish unassisted

  • Submit 1 photo via text (details provided via email) by 3:00 PM

  • Winner selected randomly from qualifying entries

  • Prize Package: Rod/reel combo and gear from tackle sponsors

Tournament Rules & Regulations

Fishing Times

  • Lines In: 7:00 AM

  • Lines Out: 3:00 PM

  • No fishing (including for bait) from 12:01 AM to 7:00 AM on tournament day

  • No possession of Summer Flounder before 7:00 AM

Boundaries

  • Bay Tournament Only

  • Must fish south of Point Pleasant Canal and north of Little Bay (Leeds Point)

  • Land-Based Anglers: May fish Barnegat Inlet Jetties only (north or south sides)

  • Surf fishing from beaches is prohibited

Weigh-In Rules

  • Location: Sun Harbor Seafood and Grill (Boat or Land Access)

  • Time: 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM

  • Anglers must be in line by 5:00 PM to be eligible

  • Legal Size Requirement: Minimum 18"

  • Any undersized fluke presented will result in disqualification

  • Fish must be retained in angler’s possession; no transferring between boats or anglers

  • Only the registered angler may weigh in their fish, registrants may confirm a change in the register angler by notifying NJFishingClub President Matt Sorrentino via email prior to 7am June 21st, 2025 (Matt@NJFishingClub.com)

  • Main Tournament: 1 fish may be weighed per angler

  • Calcutta Entrants: May weigh up to 3 fish (for stringer weight)

  • The weighmaster will not cull fish. Do not bring extra fish.

General Rules

  • All fish must be caught and landed unassisted (netting allowed)

  • Boat and kayak anglers may not fish from land or docks

  • Land-based anglers may not fish from any type of vessel

  • Weighmaster may disqualify any fish that shows signs of mutilation or tampering

  • All decisions made by the weighmaster are final

  • In the event of a tie, the prize money will be split evenly

Polygraph Policy

  • All winners are subject to a mandatory or random polygraph test

  • Failure or refusal to take a polygraph test will result in disqualification, forfeiture of winnings, and a ban from future NJ Fishing Club events

  • If a polygraph is determined to be required, payouts will be issued after results are verified

  • If no test is deemed necessary, prize money will be issued on the day of the event via check

Weather & Cancellation Policy

  • Tournament is rain or shine

  • In the event of a natural disaster or Act of God (e.g. hurricane), the tournament will be canceled and not rescheduled

  • All entry fees, including Calcutta, will be refunded in full
